Content & Rights

Last updated 24 June 2026

404.fm is an internet-radio player. It does not host, store, record, transcode, broadcast, or redistribute any audio. The app is a tuner: when you press play, your device connects directly to the broadcaster's own public live stream, exactly as a web browser would when opening that stream's address. This page explains where station information comes from and how rights holders can request a removal.

We don't host or broadcast anything

We operate no audio servers and rebroadcast nothing. 404.fm provides directory information (station name, country, language, genre tags, and a link to the broadcaster's public stream) and player technology only. All audio is delivered to your device directly by the independent station that publishes it, and that station is solely responsible for the content and licensing of its own stream.

Where station information comes from

Station directory data is provided by the radio-browser.info community database, whose maintainers dedicate that data to the public domain. We are grateful to that project and its contributors. The presence of a station in the directory does not imply any affiliation with, or endorsement by, 404.fm. Learn more at radio-browser.info.

Third-party rights

All stations, broadcasts, recordings, names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners. 404.fm claims no ownership of, and asserts no rights over, any station or its content. Nothing in the app or on this site grants you any right in third-party content beyond listening to a publicly available live stream.

Removing a station

If you are a broadcaster or rights holder and you would like your station removed from 404.fm, email us at copyright@404fm.com with the station name and stream URL. We honor valid removal requests promptly. Because the underlying directory is community-maintained, the most durable removal is at the directory source (radio-browser.info), but we will also suppress the station within 404.fm on request.

Copyright (DMCA) notice & takedown

We respect intellectual-property rights and respond to clear notices of alleged infringement. If you believe content accessible through 404.fm infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our copyright contact at copyright@404fm.com that includes: (1) your physical or electronic signature; (2) identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed; (3) identification of the material to be removed and information reasonably sufficient to locate it (for example, the station name and stream URL); (4) your contact information; (5) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the rights holder, its agent, or the law; and (6) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on its behalf. Upon a valid notice we will promptly suppress the identified station within 404.fm.

Counter-notice

If a station you publish was removed and you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to copyright@404fm.com including the same identifying information and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.

Repeat infringers

We will, in appropriate circumstances, remove stations associated with repeated valid infringement notices.
